Bunions are an enlargement of the bone structure in one’s foot that can become uncomfortable, especially when wearing certain shoes. Bunions are sometimes a hereditary condition but can be caused if one regularly wears narrow shoes.
Bunions can be treated conservatively with a change in shoe gear, custom-molded orthotics, anti-inflammatory medication, padding, or a corticosteroid injection.
Bunions may require surgical intervention if conservative measures fail.
